Help Make a Difference |
|
The Silent-Tsunami Campaign at 2100 M Street in Washington encouraged participants to give to two organization – one with a global reach, another aimed at addressing local needs.
In addition to the campaign at this location, the Law Offices of Stewart and Stewart have reached out to hundreds of individuals in the legal community and tapped into the creative energy of university communities around the country. The idea is to inspire others to utilize their individual community resources and talents to make a difference in a way that best suits them and, therefore, make the global food crisis part of collective consciousness. There are hundreds of charities that are dedicated to eradicating hunger.
Bread for the World provides a broad array of opportunities to learn more about hunger, ideas on how to bring creativity and skill to anti-hunger efforts, and links to over 100 organizations on the front lines of human nutritional needs.
The Alliance for Food Aid for example, works with over a dozen groups to seek adequate resources for food aid and the adoption of government policies that support the use of food aid in multi-faceted programs that address the underlying causes of hunger.
In addition to multinational efforts, individuals in various countries are rallying to assist their citizens. Here are some examples of what people are doing in Moscow, Russia: Protestant Chaplaincy Food Sharing Ministry , Salvation Army Ministry to the Homeless in Moscow Adult Feeding Program, Roof-Top Gardens in St Petersburg.
